How pace, time and distance fit together
Pace is time divided by distance, so any two give you the third: a 10K in 50 minutes is 5:00 per kilometre, or 8:03 per mile. Speed is the same thing turned around, in kilometres or miles per hour.
The splits assume you hold the pace from start to finish, or, with a negative split, that you speed up steadily so the second half is quicker than the first by the percentage you choose.
